While I Was Out ....

I'm sure there's no way I can possibly do justice to the pressing matters of the day which have transpired since a certain life-altering career choice came about. But what the hell ... let's give it a shot:

  • Houtopia once-more nabs the villains of Houston's City Gall ... er, I mean "Hall." This episode's winner is Shelly Sekula-Whatevernameworks Gibbs. Houtope drops a reference to a possible run against east-side County Commissioner Sylvia Garcia. Oh how I'd love that one to transpire. Maybe we shouldn't point out that Shelley is the queen of hypocrites, taking to the Chron Op/Ed pages to state her indignation at a policy she voted for THREE FREAKIN TIMES!!! Also of note ... why didn't the Chron point this out for us readers? I mean, aren't they supposed to be fighting for the great liberal way?

Naturally, the Dan Patrick Splinter Group is allllll over this Gibb-pocrisy. NOT!

Personally I would love to see the Dr. Councilwoman succeed in getting the $AFEclear program shelved; I just find it amusing to contrast her opposition to $AFEclear with her enthusiasm for a smoking ban.

Yeah ... not to mention the contrast with her own prior support of SafeClear itself, Anne

  • Wow ... where has Peggy Noonan been for the past 4 years?

  • Back to the Lone Star State, the Austin American-Statesman has a decent rundown on two Austin State Reps: Mark Strama and Todd Baxter. For those curious about Baxter being described as a moderate, it's worth noting that he voted for three out of seven of the recent amendments to the House Rules - tops among the GOP. But Strama ... sheesh ... how long do we have to wait before the guy runs statewide?

That's a good enough kickstart to get the blood boiling ... a few more focused thoughts coming up later ...
