SR121 Race Set at Four: Rose Spector Among Them
Four throw hats in ring for vacant House post
As rumored, the Democratic Party is taking a hard charge at another uphill district. Right off the bat, kudos are in order for whoever the heck it was that made this happen. (Charles Soechting?) Whoever nudged Rose Spector into this race deserves high praise.
Although the district is heavily GOP, a special election is like a 3-game baseball playoff series ... anything can happen. The district went 65-35 for both the Presidential race as well as the Brister-Van Os Supreme Court race (say what I will of Van Os, he ran well in his home county of Bexar ... although no better here than the top of the ticket). Bottom line, it's uphill. But there's some pretty impressive help there on the ground in San Antonio that will give Harris County Dems reason to open their checkbook.
For the uninitiated, Rose Spector was among the last of the statewide elected Dems, losing her re-election in 1998 after being the first woman elected to the State Supreme Court. If there's a candidate who can pull this race off, it's her.
More to come later as I'm in contact with a few of the campaign staff in San An. We may have the TexasTuesdays.com reprisal in order to serve as the one-stop shop for all things on this race ... depends on what all we get out of San Antonio.
The election is February 5, so act FAST!!!!! Good luck to those in San Antonio working on the race.

Interesting. Good article. Is there an address to which Democrats can send checks?
