Open Post
The holiday recovery is nearly complete. I've caught up on a lot of my news reading, but still have yet to make a dent in the book collection. And of course, just when I get somewhat caught up, Scoop Jackson Dem posts enough comments on this blog that keep me with a healthy-sized reading list. Good stuff, though.
Not sure what will get my ire up to post about it today, so why not just go with an open post and a convo starter on predictions for tonight's big game. I've already picked OU by 5, but my record is spotty on bowl games. Maybe I should just start rooting on USC instead.
Look for some more election stats to come up soon as that's been eating away at the available time as much as anything.

I predict that the Minnesota Zeppelins will triumph over the California Droughts in the Guacamole Bowl played in sunny Billings, Montana.

Look at it this way. I am very happy to have found some kindred spirits such as yourself, KYDem, the two stellar Bloggers on the DLC (Kilgore and Whitman) Website, etc. Indeed, I comment because I find your posts thought provoking. Moreover, I find this to be a troubling period in our recent political history. The far right wing dominates the Republican Party, and the post-Vietnam Liberals (jazzed up with the Dean Movement) dominate the Democratic Party. Centrists are being crowded out of both political parties. You are voicing many of my concerns.
I think that Marshall Whitman is symbolic of all this. He evidently idolizes that grand old Bull Moose himself, Teddy Roosevelt, but decided that the DLC was the only logical home for his TR-style Republican progressivism. That is sad for the Republican Party. However, Marhall Whitman is joining a rearguard action at the DLC, given all of the calumnious assaults that the Deaniacs, Kossacks and the Crank Caucus level against the DLC and any Democrat at all with whom they disagree.
