Bloggers in the News: Texas Style
The Dallas Morning News wraps its head around blogging, with Texas's (and TexasTuesdays.com's) own Vince Leibowitz getting some publicity. Reports indicate he even worked in a photo on page 2. Nice going, Vince. Vince is currently adding the occassional guest post to BurntOrangeReport in addition to his normal duties of trying to wrestle Van Zandt County from the throes of Republican voting tendencies.
As for the story itself, I think it's pretty inane, which I'd expect from a traditional media report on blogs. In nearby Aggieland, there's a saying that you cannot understand the experience the school provides unless you attend. As something of a parallel, I think the same is true of blogging. And yet, sadly, most traditional media don't allow for any true blogging to go on by their writers. The local Chron, for instance, having fired people for such. So there's a disconnect between us and them that may take a while to fix. The drop in BlogAds is but a small portion of the story. That Vince drops his own blog after the election is still pretty rare, and those of us who are still afflicted with the disease continue on, win or lose. Have bandwidth, will blog ... or something like that.
