Strong Rumors on Tameez, Bell & Others
Quality gossip from Mr. Gossip himself, George Strong .... (emphasis mine)
The Gossips are hearing that some Republican members of the Harris County delegation are boycotting Mayor White's efforts to meet with the delegation and outline the City's position on issues coming up in Austin. It must be news to the GOP members of the State Senate from Harris County. All most all of them showed up for dinner and the Gossips hear they were pleased that the Mayor was taking time to meet with them. Part of the buzz is that that someone told a White operative to tell the Mayor to knock off the bipartisan stance because the Republicans knew that Mayor had sent one his political consultant, Mustafa Tameez out to defeat Talmadge Heflin. The rumor sounded like some of the Harris County House Republicans were holding the Mayor and Tameez responsible for their colleague defeat and were ready to block the city's legislative program in Austin.. But from the attendance and warm response by some of the GOP members that just may not be the case. After all Mayor White is doing his best to stay nonpartisan and can hardly be held responsible for what one of his campaign consultants does on his own time. The Gossips are welcoming back to Houston one of their old friends, Joe Householder. Householder spent part of the fall in Iowa working for the DNC on loan from Senator Hillary Clinton's office . On his way back to DC he got an offer he could not refuse, go to work for Public Strategies in Houston and so he and his wife,Cheryl, have moved back to town. The firm is head quartered in Austin but has offices all over the nation. The founder of Public Strategies, Jack Martin, must be building up the staff of his Houston office. Joe a former KTRH reporter and PR person for a major Houston law firm has lots of good experience and will be valuable to Public Strategies. He could also be of some help to Senator Clinton when and if she decides to run for some national office.
And the Gossips hear that Congressman Chris Bell is telling folks that he is serious about running for Governor in 2006. Bell was a target of Tom DeLay in last spring's Democratic primary and was defeated by Al Green. Chris will have a year or so to travel around the state and test the water.

George does have some quality gossip, but man, I wish he'd proofread himself now and then.
