Vo Wins For The Third Time
Recount fails to turn up more votes for Heflin
Vo gains one vote in the process. Andy Taylor, once more, speaks for the Republican Party of Texas and Harris County by blaming the voters:
"Once you subtract all the illegal votes from the total, it will show that Representative Heflin has more legal votes than his opponent."...
In his petition contesting the election, Heflin questioned Vo's residency, alleging that he lives in Sugar Land and not in the southwest Harris County district.
"The illegal voters who cast their ballots in this race and Mr. Vo have one thing in common," Taylor said today. "None of them live in House District 149 or even in Harris County."
The dignity you see flying through the window is that of Taylor and Heflin. Still no demonstration of fact on Tal's campaign website. Remember, if Tal gets his wish, it's up to a new election for him ... one that currently stands with him and his campaign manager calling voters in the district illegal. Put up or shut up, guys.
As for us Dems, two outlets here:

ADD-ON: Andrew @ BOR has a little more on the topic. He calls for a donation to the party to stave off the other challenges headed for the House. Fine enough. I still recommend acting locally and chipping in to the Vo Campaign. There's also a fundraiser for Vo on Sunday. If you don't have details in hand, but have $50 or more and a Sunday night free, email me for details.

But Vo does live in Sugar Land. He was registered there until the last minute deadline.
Heck, I'm looking at a Fort Bend voter file showing that he never even took the time to vote in a Democratic primary. =)
This is all so much fun! Wheeee!!!!
Now that those votes are counted, will you finally start going to hockey games!!!!
Hubert Vo lives in the district with his aging parents. He owns many properties -- he's a real estate developer for cyring out loud! The fact is, he's been active in the Alief community for over 25 years -- board of the YMCA, super-neighborhood organization, etc. Heflin tried this nonsense during the campaign. The voters didn't buy it then and they don't buy it now.
Besides, I would suggest the residency issue is a non-starter with the legislature -- half those guys (in both parties) don't live in their districts.
As to whether or not he voted in every Democratic primary, who cares?
As James Baker said, "we counted the votes once, we counted them twice, and counted them again." Heflin still lost. And as President Bush said in 2000, "it's time for the losers to go home." Heflin's sounding a lot more like Al Gore these days. You lost Talmadge. Go home.
I guess I am still waiting for the comment about why we need to contact Rep. Robert Talton specifically. Will you explain?
