A Spade is a Spade, DeLay is a Crook, Owen is a ....
DeLay seizes on chiding of accuser
This whole spate of DeLay storylines is great because it gives everyone a chance to see the difference between honest conservative and those among them who excuse unethical and lawless behavior.
For instance ... conservative editorial boards across the nation and conservative commentators have gone on and on about how the House rule change. So while John Podeheretz & David Brooks maintain some semblence of their integrity, local-boy-gone-bad, Owen "Cowardly" Courreges calls the rule change "a very smart move."
Way to stand up for a crook, Owen. We now see what's most meaningful to you ... and it most certainly isn't conservative principle.
Still, even when David Brooks says the following ...
He doesn't face an immediate threat. But the next time a scandal licks up against him, DeLay will find his support is not as strong as he thought it would be. He'll turn around and find that his caucus has remembered its core values.
At this point, I'd have to agree only to the extent that I argue "power for the sake of power alone" is the core value they'll remember.

Did I miss the conviction?
Did I miss the indictment?
No.
I am pretty sure I did not.
Nor am I missing the irony in your calling Owen names in a post ostensibly about principles in politics -- while you call the unindicted and unconvicted Majority Leader lawless and criminal.
One would have hoped you would have calmed down a little bit after the election. Just a thought here -- but instead of just pounding the keyboard and calling folks names, maybe step back and think about whether that's the sort of blogger you want to be. That sort of blogging may appeal to the hardest of partisans, but you really don't need it to get your message across, and it really is off putting to the sorts of readers I think you once targeted. Why does it have to be so personal and nasty (almost Rick Casey style)? I think it just overshadows the substantive points you're trying to make.
Anyway, who pray tell is John Podeheretz? Do you mean John Podhoretz? :)
