Whither Joe ...
WILL LIEBERMAN SELL THE DEMOCRATS OUT ON SOCIAL SECURITY?
Interesting corner for criticism of Joe to eminate from, but here we go. The irony here is that Lieberman supporting partial privatization of Soc. Sec. is not exactly news to anyone. He backed off it for much of the past 4 years, stating the high transition costs required, but as at least I can attest to, the fact that something is expensive does not necessarily preclude it from still being necessary. If partial privatization is an inevitability (an open question right now), you'd damn well better hope there's a sensible budget counter in the room at all times. Admittedly, though, the Bush experience with Medicaid reform has the defense shields on high for us Dems.
Along these lines, Edith Fierst has a worthwhile read on the topic of privatization in the WaPo.
