Progress in Sudan, Tragedy in Uganda
The situation in Sudan is still suspect at best: the Sudanese government will disarm the militias ... which they've already poached from to staff the Sudan army & police. The No-Fly zone seems to be the brightest possible light ... but exactly how much flight is needed to build on the damage already done to the tribes in Darfur? With the signing coming days before the UN butts heads on the issue, color me cynical on it.
It's easy to get real cynical about situations like these, but just a reminder that failed states often devolve into rogue states and if we're serious about pre-empting safe havens for terrorists, dealing with situations like Sudan and Uganda (and others) ought to be considered a front line in the war on terrorism.
