Kaufman's Surprise
Unprecedented early ballots could mean a busy Election Day
"It's encouraging to see that much interest in participation for a change," Kaufman said. "Early voting more than exceeded my prediction for this year. People kept saying, 'We knew we were going to have a high-turnout election.' Well, I didn't. I'm just blown away by it."
Wow ... I guess that would explain the super-long lines at Early voting locations. Let's just hope that Bev's staggering incompetence to understand the world over the last two years doesn't affect election day.
That said, the CW is that higher turnout helps Dems. I'll buy that ... but only up to a point, and an unknown point at that. Just a formative bit of speculation here, but I think that once you see one side driven to get out to the polls, that starts to seep over to the other side. Higher turnout may help Dems given the current calculus. But hyper-higher turnout, I argue, tends to make the new voters look more and more like everyone else. We shall see soon enough, I suppose.
