Hell In A Handbasket

(striking a sarcastic, humorous tone ... SO CHILL!)

Colin Powell Sings Village People Song
NOTE: this is REAL ... not from The Onion ... I swear!!!!!

Way to distract attention from Cheney's f-bomb. This one really blows that away.

WHILE I'M AT IT: Different topic, but given that hard-hitting serious journalist John Stossel (hey, I said this post was humorous!) is interviewing former Illinois Senate candidate Jack Ryan, I check the web update and read this quote from Jack himself:

"I think we need more people going to Washington, D.C., who want to engage in marital relations with their wives. I think that's a good thing for this country, not a bad thing."

I mean literally, I cannot believe this quote actually left a politician's mouth (even if he is an erstwhile pol at that). On the surface, nothing wrong with the fact of the matter ... but the context begs the question of whether or not Jack Ryan even got what happened to him.

More bounty from Jack:

"I can't tell you how many calls I got in the last two weeks from people who said, 'I always thought about maybe going into public service. But not now, not, not after I've seen what's happened to you.' And so this cannot be the right standard now for entering into American politics,"

Not stated, however, was if this call came from a Sex Addict Counselor, perhaps.

Still more ...

"Remember the worst that can be said about me is that I propositioned my wife - my wife! - in an inappropriate place," Ryan said. "We've had people elected to office who have done things that are much worse than that."

As odd as it is, I can understand what's going through his mind. Unfortunately for Jack Ryan, what's going through his mind is leading him to be irrational about this entire situation. This is a man who thought it good enough for democracy to have his opponent followed into the men's room with a campaign aide filming every second. This is a man, who also doesn't seem to get that values do matter at some level with voters and not all of us are quite the exhibitionist he seems to be.

OK, so maybe the humorous tone ended somewhere in that last paragraph as I got all preachy like a good 80s sitcom. Watch the interview tonight because you know if Stossel is doing the grilling, he's gonna get to the bottom of this issue! (there, happy?)
