Ryan is out well-before teh final deadline, and will be replace in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois.
The Torch quit after the deadline for replacement candidates had passed, and the Democrats and NJ Supreme Court ignored the plain language of the statute to make an illegal substitution.
Following the rules vs. Breaking the rules. A major difference, in my book.
My first thought when Ryan dropped out was "When's the deadline?" By the accounts I've read it has not, so there's no issue here. If Torricelli had dropped out before the deadline, I wouldn't have cared there, either.
