Worst Episode of CHIPs ... EVER

Low-income children could lose insurance

Curious ... if you were to raise a tax on wealthy folks by 1000%, do you think you'd hear a hue & cry of class warfare?

Of course you would.

How about if you raised a tax on poor folks by 1000% ... or more? Think you'd hear a peep?

Of course you would.

Of course ... the peep you'd hear will apparently be in the form of 100,000 reminder letters arriving in mailboxes across the state to inform parents that if they don't pay that higher tax, little Johnny Jr. won't be able to get treatment via the CHIPs program.

State Rep. Talmadge Heflin has this to say: "I really believe that when they understand that there is a sharing of the payment that's required, I think they'll pay because it is an excellent deal for them...."

Yeah. I can't really add anything to that other than bewilderment and a reminder that Heflin is the single most endangered GOP State Rep in Harris County and that if one were so inclined, they might want to contribute to his opponent to speed things up a notch.

Curious ... if HISD ran a voucher system for students in this same manner, wouldn't conservatives be throwing a fit? Or would they, too, realize what an excellent deal it is for them? Will we ever know? Oh, right ... we already do.
