Louisiana Polling
Well, depending on who you ask, maybe Bobby Jindal does have a big lead in Louisiana, as I suspected he should. Via PoliticalWire, the Lafayette Advertiser has an independent poll that pits Jindal ahead of Blanco with an 11 point lead. The question mark on this one, comes from a quick scan of the polls that RCP puts up on the race. The leads seem to switch, which tends to make me think the main reason for the disparity comes from differing assumptions about the number of black votes primarily.
My hunch is that Jindal wins this one ... but whether its by a few points or a dozen remains to be seen and could be potentially telling of the prevailing winds heading into 2004.

I just got back from Louisiana. The feeling over there was that it was Blanco's to lose. Despite the sitting Republican governor (and their swing for Bush) the state is predisposed to pulling the lever for Democrats and Foster's blue-collar charm got him past that (which Jindal notably lacks). The fact that this is such a close race is demonstrating that Blanco has already lost something. Furthermore, three days out there demonstrated that she sure is ACTING like someone that is losing.
