Chronicle Endorses Wesley
Being one who sticks to the standard news sections and skipping past much of the Op/Ed page, I typically miss stuff like this. It's moments when I realize I've missed something rather significant that I regret it, though. The Chronicle endorses Derrick Wesley. Well, maybe I shouldn't feel too bad since Wesley doesn't even have that fact noted on his website. But since its still better than Terry McConn, who has no website, I'll live. The race has essentially become a no-brainer for me in Dist. F, with Derrick Wesley being the only game in town. Hopefully this endorsement will help me avoid a scenario of witnessing two GOP candidates vie for a Democratic district.
Also, after a chat with Kuff, I realize the At Large #1 race may not be as settled in my mind as I had previously thought. Andrew Burks ran a close race against Shelly (Whatever) Gibbs (To Be Named Later) two years ago, breaking him through to the more respectable side of city political life. But this time around, he's got company on the Democratic side: Brian Wozniak. Woz has the endorsement of the Chron as well.
That leaves the only mystery endorsement on the part of the Chron: Michael Berry. Whoever can offer the best theory behind that one, I contend, should get the unanymous support of all bloggers for no other reason than the intellect required to concoct it. The thought of it being a token pick has already been bandied about ... I'm looking for something more substantive than that, though.
