UberFest 2003

While some of the events of this event are still contained in my memory, there are several things that all participants have agreed to never discuss again. In any event, nobody throws a House Party like the one, the only, the Uber.

The events I can talk about include the movie list:

Sleepaway Camp - clearly one of those movies that you have no idea how you got snookered into watching until you realize that the one person who suggested it knew exactly how warped they'd make you by seeing the ending of the movie.
Death Race 2000 - Roger Corman's second greatest movie ever.
Rock & Roll High School - Roger Corman's greatest movie ever.

and short segments of:
Shaolin Soccer - merely a social experiment to see if the three funniest scenes would stand alone to people who have never seen the movie in its entirety.
Hired - Part II (from MST3K - Manos, Hands of Fate) - Classic!
RoboCop II - Ulysses' 20 seconds of fame ... more on this later.

Outside of the movies, the night is basically spent partaking of alcohol and food. Uber did a bangup job of making calzones, and those who chose to drink seemed to empty his supply of vodka rather quickly. I opted for the Mountain Dew, and had no problem keeping on top of things till 4am in the morning.

A few highlights:

The RoboCop II viewing ... for an extra with all of maybe 20 seconds of footage in the film, Ulysses manages to milk it for all its worth and then some. The blooper is noted in which he is seen exiting the arcade, yet moments later, he's front and center hurling popcorn at the heroic RoboCop in a scene depicting the angst of the future as seen through the eyes of mankind in the 90s. The most hilarious part, however, was watching as the punks fled the arcade, in which our resident punk Ulysses is the last one out of the arcade. Only, he's the first one you spot trying to get out ... he just goes the wrong way, and by the time he's headed in the right direction, he nearly takes a video game machine out with him and wipes out on what memory tells me is an air hockey table (although I could be wrong about that particular detail). As told to him on this evening, had he been at a Great White concert on that day, he'd have surely died.

Another moment of hilarity involving Ulysses was the point in which he decided to urinate on the new lawn of Uber's. I'll let that sorta stand on its own ... I wasn't witness to it, I chose not to view the photo of the offended fence post, and I've been trying to get the memory out of my mind ever since.

The real question going into the festivities, was who would prove the heartiest drinker: Uber or Ulysses. The early money was on Uber, given his stature, shall we say. But as the night wore on, the competition was tough. The clear winners, though ... as dictated by none other than Uber himself ... were the partygoers who remained sober and got to laugh our rear ends off at all the drunkards in attendance. I believe I also had to play bodyguard to protect the reputation of one partygoer, I got to hit on Kassi at some point (ironically, her fiance had less problem with this than Ulysses ... go figure), and I may or may not have encouraged Ulysses to go door to door with a video camera in search of willing females to "shoot a video" and Uber to walk out to Tomball in search of a goat for use in pleasuring himself as he saw fit.

Without question, this had to be the longest lasting Movie Night experienced by this rough & tumble gang. I'm opting for more of these at Casa del Uber, although the remuneration for foodstuffs, beverages, and lawn care products may make Uber a little more willing.

Vodka AND rum. Ya buncha rummies!

Well I have to say Greg was an excellent bodyguard and I hope to renew his contract in the future.

Greg the Bodyguard:
"and IIIIIIIIIIIIIII will always love you."

The question that lingers: where the hell was Pete?

That's it, next time I'm going to outdrink all of you..........

Then again, maybe not.

Answer: I don't KNOW where I was on whatever date you mean. I can definitely say OOPS. To help prevent scheduling miscalculations in future, Ulys and Greg are cleared to provide email adds and phone numbers to Uber-type plotters of similar mayhem/lawn damage/attempts to secede from Union.

Having missed an opportunity to inflict my own peculiar brand of PAIN, I hereby promise to be in a position to provide

1. At least one Hammer feature heretofore unseen, preferably showcasing at least 1 or 2 of the legendary Hammer girls such as Barbara Steele OR massive gore at least by early 70's standards. THE DEVIL RIDES OUT would be a possible (with Charles Gray).

2. One or more of the following:
HEAD (The Monkees, Frank Zappa, Jack Nicholson 1968)
THE CORPSE GRINDERS (J. Byron Foster, Sanford Mitchell 1972)
MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE (mst3k version hopefully)
JAIL BAIT (Lyle Talbot, Dolores Fuller 1954)
NAVY VS THE NIGHT MONSTERS (Mamie Van Doren 1966)
SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE - no, I have my limits.
WITCHFINDER GENERAL (Vincent Price 1968)
