Kucinich Enters, Iowa Update

Pretty interesting buzz now that that U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich is seriously looking to enter the fray for a 2004 run at the White House. He'll be pushing Howard Dean for the label of most liberal candidate (and I'm dismissing Sharpton & Mosely-Braun out of hand, obviously). The Des Moines Register is already giving Kucinich some run (here and here). In a recent forum, Kucinich was even already participating. So now the big question is which candidate inherits Jerry Brown's mantle as the leftwing candidate of choice.

The forum, is a little more newsworthy since it shows some of the upcoming vetting on the candidates vis-a-vis their stance on Iraq. Kerry has obviously taken some lumps for trying to have it both ways. Dean is taking a little bit of heat for trying to keep his options open (and with as inane a policy pronouncement as one could imagine). Lieberman (insert the traditional disclosure notice of my own bias here) at least takes his lumps for consistency: "I'm not going to oppose a policy I've supported for 12 years just because the person who happens to be the commander in chief of the United States today is a Republican..." Edwards, who was also in attendance, also gave a response supporting action in Iraq.
