Harris County Results
Still trickling in, but here's a few noteworthy results:
For the statewide races, its a solid Rep sweep, with one exception: Margaret Mirabel. At least some Harris County Reps know a bad judge when they see one and have turned against Steven Wayne Smith. The usual suspects come close to winning the county, but with no Harris County candidate on the slate, its something to think about in 4 years.
Debra Danburg is on her way out, with 45% of the votes in, she's down 52-47
Scott Hochberg continues to pull away in his State Rep race. 28% in and he's up 55-45.
Sylvia Garcia is starting to look like a winner in her eastern county district, as well. 30% in, and she's got 51.9-46.6.
The downside for Dems is that Harris county basically went Republican to the tune of 55-45 in the judicial races and other countywide races. That was a key that Dems wanted to at least make some inroads in. Its extremely difficult to recruit judges when the Reps control the bench unanimously. That said, a good job of recruitment was done, but nothing shows up in the results column. Its not going to be an easy next few months as Dems have to now figure out how to get back in the win column.

The local judicial race was where I got to cast my most satisfying vote: against the Independent candidate for judge in the 245th district, one Angelina Gooden. Why? Because she was my ex-wife's divorce attorney. A MasterCard moment.
