More Numbers ...
I just slap this up here for my own reference purposes primarily. Its the top 15 counties, their vote total in the 98 Lite Gov Race. May also have to look at the Comptroller numbers since Hobby ran a close race that year.
Perry98 Sharp98 Harris 265,426 257,642 Dallas 175,394 160,820 Bexar 101,714 118,811 Tarrant 141,033 111,008 Travis 71,378 99,598 El Paso 30,571 56,315 Collin 59,020 23,548 Denton 44,155 22,476 Hidalgo 16,502 29,352 Fort Bend 32,478 26,262 Nueces 25,117 35,342 Montgomery 35,835 15,556 Galveston 23,958 29,642 Williamson 30,832 22,331 Jefferson 21,204 39,233 Total-15 1,074,677 1,047,936 Total 1,858,837 1,790,106 % T15 57.8% 58.5%
It would appear that the T15 counties are at least a decent bellweather based on these results, but I'll see how that holds up later tonite. If nothing else, it'll be interesting to see how Sharp does compared to these numbers, as well as how Kirk does with this comparison point. I'll also be digging into some numbers in East Texas to see how the relative strength is for Kirk & Sanchez in redneck-ville. Also I'll be finding some way to look at how Sanchez's base counties do for Kirk and vice-versa. Methinks the tale of the tape in this election is how well that crossover support holds up.
