HoustonChronicle.com - Perry, 7 other Republicans lead state races, poll says
Not a great poll by historical standards, but they seem to fall in line with conventional wisdom at least for this time:
Senate :: 44-35 Cornyn
Gov :: 50-35 Perry
Lt Guv :: 39-37 Dewhurst
AG :: 37-29 Abbott
Comptroller :: 56-18 Rylander
Land Commish :: 39-28 Patterson
Ag commish :: 45-31 Combs
RR Commish :: 39-30 Williams
All Republicans in the lead, with the LtGuv race being a statistical tie. A few notes on some of the results:
Marty Akins ... WTF??? The guy was threatening to spend all sorts of mad cash on the Governor's race early on, yet now he's stuck with the lowest total of any candidate on the board. Not only that, but his standing in the race actually went down since the last poll. Everyone else at least gained the typical partisan bump as voters start to solidify their choices.
Sherry Boyles ... HUH??? Could she be poised to at least make a race out of an office that she probably has little knowledge of? Basically, she's a party hack (albeit, a pretty hot one at that) and now she wants to help regulate oil & gas? I remember reading her site when her name first started getting dropped and thinking she was the type of person I hated in college.
